Welcome to the First Day of the Rest of Your Life

If you need a pep-talk, you’ve come to the right place. This was originally written as my “Welcome” email to private coaching clients. But when I was going through some rough patches, I would open up the newsletter & read it to myself. It helped me to feel better, & remember the important work I’m doing. So I thought, maybe it would help you, too – coaching client or not.

At the risk of sounding cliche, congratulations on taking the first step. And I don’t mean to sound melodramatic, but welcome to the first day of the rest of your life!

I’m so happy you’re here.

It takes courage to commit to changing your life. Give yourself a pat on the back and remember this feeling, because there will be times when you’ll need to draw up on that positive energy to push through tough times.

We live in a world where everyone thinks that the way they live their life is the only way. It can be difficult to stay on track, especially in a city, where it feels like everyone is judging you and pushing their opinions on you.

But this isn’t about them.

This is about you, and what works for you.

Again, it may sound melodramatic, but one thing I like to emphasize when people get caught up in worrying what others think of them is… We’re all going to die alone.

Regardless of whatever it is you believe around the elusive topic of death, you’re going to be the one taking that final breath, completely on your own.

We can feel satisfied that we designed a life that was true to ourselves, knowing that we did the best we possibly could. Or we can take that last breath, filled with regret because suddenly we realize… our life was lived for other people.

I know what you’re thinking – Woah, woah, woah, slow down there. I thought this was about getting fit!

You’re right. This is about getting fit. But I want to take it a few steps further, so you can use that foundation of fitness to rock every area of your life. I want those feel-good endorphins to leak over into the rest of your life, transforming you into an unstoppable force on a conquest to live the most incredible life of your dreams. And maybe even to change the world while you’re at it.

Simply because… you deserve it. You are worthy.

As we move forward, we’re going to develop your very own version of “the ultimate human experience” – a concept beneath the umbrella of The Primal Revolution – a brand that I’m developing with the goal to create an army of badass humans revolutionizing the world, who don’t give a fuck what society thinks. I want to eradicate the norm we live in. You know the one – where people run around on a hamster wheel of busy-ness, sticking carefully to a rigid formula of what your life is supposed to look like.

With all due respect, fuck that. It’s time to live life on your terms.

Both the ultimate human experience and The Primal Revolution cover the full spectrum of the human experience, but to start with, we’re going to focus on two elements.

Nutrition and Movement.

These who things create the solid foundation we need to thrive as healthy beings. Without them, nothing else we do matters.

It can seem intimidating, but we’ll start small. Even improving your life by 1% each day will move mountains. The problem is that most people have found comfort in “good enough,” and stop developing. And when we stop developing, we risk reverting backwards. Each step forward, no matter how tiny, serves as a buffer between moving forward and tumbling backwards.

Why settle for good enough? Because self-development and growth and change… it’s all fucking terrifying. It takes courage to take risks, and there will always be a measure of risk when you step out of the comfort zone of what you know.

Tossing that security blanket to the side can feel incredibly scary and intimidating. So, from now on, I want you to think of me as your security blanket. When panic rises and you don’t know what to do, I’m here to guide the way.

Our Next Steps.

Starting small, we’ll look at your goals; then we’ll breakdown what’s working and what isn’t working.

What does life look like on your terms? How do you want to feel waking up every day? How do you want to be able to use your body?

We’ll develop a program that allows us to measure your results over weeks and months. Over time, we’ll be experimenting with what works best for you, and as you develop as an athlete, we’ll continue to go back to the drawing board to reassess your goals, and continue to create milestones that grow with you.

Food is Fuel.

There is no “one size fits all” diet when it comes to what’s trending, and what everyone thinks you should be doing. After all, “Trendy is the last stage before tacky.”

But, there is a basic formula for what humans need to maintain wellness. And that is a combination of meat, fish, vegetables, nuts, seeds, and minimal amounts of fruit.

As with everything, we’ll start small, tracking your diet for a week, and from there, we’ll see where we need to add and subtract foods – focusing on a balance between protein, carbs, and fat.

I know. Focusing on diet is hard. It’s turned into a topic as touchy as religion and politics. And beyond that, it can be difficult to kick addiction around sugar, caffeine, and carbs. But when it comes down to getting results – and that’s what we’re striving for – the question is, how badly do you want it?

Now, this is all about you, but here’s what I want out of this.

As you develop as an athlete, I have some very simple goals in mind.

I want you to feel fabulous.

I want to see your performance improve.

I want you to look better naked.

I want your confidence to radiate from your skin, so the world can bask in your awesomeness.

And I also want you to have mind-blowing sex, because, c’mon. That’s the point of all of this, right? (More on that in the Elite Lifestyle Design Program).

Sending big hugs your way from (not so) sunny Sweden.

I will be recommending this website to a friend who is also a philosopher. You two would make an awesome pair. I am off to work this morning at the Habitat Store and look forward to reading your essays when I have a little downtime…which I know you would recommend.
